Most of Mads Lynnerups works take place outside in public setting, where he can create an interaction with his environment and the intended audience. Since Mads moved to New York one and a half years ago his work has taken a more political and direct approach as he has felt the impact of the constant advertisement bombardment of the city. The bits and pieces of text and information that interrupts the private space and thoughts as one takes the subway or walk though the city of New York, Mads has noted become like mantras, forming their own meaning in his mind whether he wants it or not. Based on this observation Mads made a series of handbills that appropriated the security information posters in the subway.

Mads Lynnerup’s work has most recently been on view at Lora Reynolds Gallery, Austin, Texas, The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art (Cornell University) New York, P.S.1, New York, LACMA, Los Angeles, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Kunsthalle Fridericianum, Kassel, to mention a few.
